The Boss Network Launch Summit

Before last night’s NBA All-Star Weekend Saturday Night’s festivities kicked off at the United Center, The Boss Network held a Launch Summit All-Star Weekend Edition at Groupon Headquarters. Not only did I leave the Launch Summit with a camera full of photos (review gallery below), I left feeling more inspired than I was when I first entered the building.

The Boss Network’s founder, Cameka Smith brought together some of the best of the best in business to inspire, motivate & educate every boss present. The moment you walked inside the building you were greeted by bosses, as you exit the elevator into where the Launch Summit was taking place, you were surrounded by even more bosses as they mixed and mingled before the panel discussion. Complimentary and hors d’oeuvres were serve throughout the event. And from what I was told by several bosses, the mini buffalo tacos & beef burger bites were truly a hit by Fork Fantasy’s own, Chrissy G.

Mrs. Smith began the Launch Summit by welcoming everyone and honoring CEO of the Dallas Mavericks, Mrs. Cynthia Marshall. The advice & knowledge Mrs. Marshall shared will stick with me forever. She’s truly a Black Woman who’s in a male dominating industry yet she’s not afraid to take charge & stand her ground. And although Mrs. Marshall was a honoree, in the midst of her answering questions, she took the liberty of providing Mrs. Smith with a very generous donation towards her organization, Boss on Campus at Howard University.

Next honoree was WNBA Star & Entrepreneur, Tamera “Ty” Young. The advice Ty shared was simple, sweet & straight to the point. She’s proof of what following your dreams can do. The rest of the panelist which consist of Riana Lynn (CEO of Journey Foods), Ashley McGowan (Global Business at Facebook) and Anis Charania (Senior Manager at Groupon) joined Ty & Mrs Smith where they all began to the discuss building online brands, leveraging your career in tech, diversity, equality, having & being mentors, leadership and funding your business.

What I enjoyed most about the panel discussion was the fact that each panelist didn’t just share their success stories, they gave advice that others were able to write down and actually use for their own business(es). One important piece of advice that was shared was don’t be afraid to ask. And the audience did just that during the Q&A segment, they asked for assistance with what they needed & ended up receiving connections that’ll take their business to a level instead. It doesn’t get any better than that.
